Ximena Velázquez, also known as La PosmoBaby, is a transdisciplinary artist, DJ, and community organizer from southeastern Mexico, currently based in Canada. 

 

Her artistic practice blends visual art, performance, textiles, and sound with autoethnographic research and cultural analysis to explore complex themes such as diasporic Latinx identity, queerness, and embodiment. 

 

She has exhibited her work at venues like The Polygon Gallery, Richmond Art Gallery, and internationally in Mexico, Chile, the Netherlands, Spain, Denmark, and Germany. As a DJ, La PosmoBaby has curated high-energy sets over the past four years, blending Latin American rhythms with club music, performing at over 50 shows across Canada and Mexico, including Boiler Room World Tour in 2024. 

 

Ximena produces and hosts Caricias, a monthly radio show that spotlights Latinx and queer artists, offering a platform for DJ workshops and community events.She also co-founded Gateo, a collective focused on bringing together local and international Latinx DJs, performers, and multimedia artists in the nightlife scene. 
 

Whether behind the decks, on stage, or in the studio, her work aims to celebrate the voices of the global south, share knowledge and resources, and contribute to a more inclusive and diverse scene by amplifying queer and Latinx voices in the arts and music industries.
