Ximena Velázquez is a DJ and transdisciplinary artist from the southeast of Mexico, living in the unceded Coast Salish territories of the Musqueam, Squamish, and Tsleil-Waututh nations also known as Vancouver.

Known by her DJ name La Posmobaby, she is the creator, curator, and host of Caricias, a monthly radio show celebrating baddies; and co-founder of Gateo,  a Latinx collective curating spaces centering lezzies, femmes, putxs, gatas, trans bbs, maricxs and frikis from Latin America and its diaspora. Additionally, she is a community organizer and facilitates DJ workshops to uplift emerging talent. Her sets are a mix of rhythms coming from Latin America combined with queer women’s sexual liberation and booty movement.

As an artist, the expression of her work combines autoethnography research with video, performance, poetry, painting, and sewing. The pieces she creates are a dialogue between her deep emotions, fragments of diaries, memories, and voice/video recordings, that she’s been collecting during her lifetime, and her cultural analysis of the space she occupies, where technology and beauty intersect to nourish visions of pleasure and autonomy.

Ximena has exhibited her work at galleries in Canada, Denmark, Mexico, Chile, Germany, and Spain. She holds a Bachelor's degree in Communications and Digital Media (MX) and teaches sewing at Dr. Peter AIDS Foundation as part of their art therapy program.
